RV Thuwal Refit Project- King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Marine Resources Core Lab)

MSI acted as the lead Project Manager / Client representative for the refit of the RV Thuwal at the Lusben Shipyard in Viareggio. The major refit of the vessel involved the following:

The role included selecting a suitable contractors and shipyard based on price, availability, quality and experience. Also liaising with the client, shipyard, designers and contractors.

MSI completed the design and project management of the new multi beam installation, the final commissioning and acceptance trials to verify compliance with the contracted function, and performance specifications. MSI completes the annual inspection on the RV Thuwal as well as the other research vessels in the KAUST fleet at the University in Saudi Arabia.

MSI completed the extensive 5 month refit managing the budget and within the timeframe allocated. MSI is also responsible for the ISM Safety Management System compliance review. Isabelle Bazile was the project lead for the refit and worked well with the shipyard, KAUST, vessel crew, and local contractors developing relationships in Italy with the team that continue today.
